Who we are:


Renfrewshire Valuation Joint Board is an independent public authority that was established by The Valuation Joint Boards (Scotland) Order 1995.

What we do:


Provide a professional valuation and electoral registration service for the Renfrewshire, East Renfrewshire & Inverclyde Council areas in respect of compilation and maintenance of the Valuation Rolls, Valuation (Council Tax) Lists and Registers of Electors.

Who are we looking for:


You will be responsible for the supervision of other professional and technical staff in completion of their duties and providing  support and assistance to the Divisional Assessor in completing the workload of a valuation team.  You will also be responsible for disposing of Council Tax proposals and appeals which will involve presenting Council Tax cases before the Valuation Appeal Committee acting as advocate by leading staff as witnesses.  You will also be responsible for the discussion and negotiation of appeals with taxpayers and professional agents, preparing cases for presentation to the Local Valuation Appeal Committee and, when required appearing as an expert witness at Hearings before the Committee or Lands Tribunal.


Applicants should be a Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (Valuation Faculty) and preferably have knowledge and/or experience in valuation for Rating and Council Tax, with the ability to survey and value all lands and heritages.  Applicants must be computer literate and should have excellent communication and team working skills.  You will have a positive, professional, and responsible attitude.  Coupled with the ability to multi-task, while ensuring strict deadlines are achieved.  You will have the ability to work as part of a team or individually.


A full driving licence and use of a car for business purposes is essential for this role.
